The Home Information Pack is a set of documents that provides the potential buyer of the property with all the key information they need. In this way there is less chance of surprises at the end of the buying process and thus delays and extra expense to all parties is avoided.
A Home Information Pack ususally contains:
a property information questionnaire (PIQ) completed by the seller;
a sale statement;
evidence of title;
results of searches;
an EPC; and
The lease (if applicable)
A full HIP is required by law. However when the PIQ and the EPC are complete, a mini or 'skinny' HIP can be issued allowing the property to be marketed.
